Northern Hungary is crisscrossed by several mountain ranges with heights of up to 900 m. They mainly extend over the area between the rivers of the Danube and the Tisza. Kékes, in the Mátra Mountains, is the highest mountain in the country.

The region also encompasses the Aggtelek National Park, which is a wildlife refuge. Other notable attractions of northern Hungary are the Castle of King Luis and the Dobo Park.

The region is also important for viticulture. The city of Tokaj is probably world-famous for its wines. The "wine of kings", as the Tokaj Aszu is also called, comes from this wine-growing region. Another well-known wine comes from the beautiful area around Eger (Eger), the “Eger bull's blood”.
Important cities
The capital of northern Hungary is Miskolc, the third-largest city in the country. In addition to the city center, which is well worth seeing and interesting leisure opportunities, there is a large thermal and cave bath in the city area in the associated Miskolc-Tapolca, which is unique in Europe and attracts many spa guests.
