Petén (North)

Discover Petén (North)

Introduction

Changed
The Petén region, Guatemala, is where the greatness of the Mayan civilization can be appreciated in all its splendor. Through fascinating archaeological sites like the National Park Tikal, declared Natural and Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO, Yaxhá, Ceibal, Aguateca, San Bartolo and the Viewpoint, where the greatest pyramid of the world by the size of its base is located.

At the moment, new findings in this region are still being carried out, that demonstrate the advances of the Mayan civilization and their intelligent wisdom from which we inherited well used mathematical discoveries like: the 365 days of the solar year, the lunar periods and even the rotations of Venus.
