The Van Gogh
There is a Van Gogh in Rome, and it is here. So are a Monet, a Cézanne, a Degas, a Duchamp, a Giacometti, a Kandinsky, a Mondrian, a Pollock, a Rodin, a Braque and a Calder.
Canova
The gallery's earliest great name and the reason its Galleria Borghese offer is called "da Canova a Canova" — from one Canova to the other, across the park.
The Italian twentieth century, in depth
Balla and Boccioni for Futurism, Modigliani, de Chirico, Morandi, Manzù, Burri and Fontana. This is the largest collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century art in Italy, and the Italian half is where its depth is.
Bazzani's façade
Friezes by Ermenegildo Luppi, Adolfo Laurenti and Giovanni Prini, and four figures of Fame holding bronze wreaths by Adolfo Pantaresi and Albino Candoni.
The four museums inside the Galleria
The Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi for the decorative arts, the Museo Hendrik C. Andersen, the Raccolta Manzù and the Museo Mario Praz all form part of the Galleria Nazionale — four separate small museums under one institution.
The Caffè delle Arti
Open 8.00 to 20.00 Tuesday to Sunday, and the reason the three-hour ticket explicitly allows you to leave and come back.
