Cape Cod
Overview
Along the southeastern side of Massachusetts lies the stunning island called Cape Cod, which includes a group of several smaller islands; along with the peninsula that juts out into to Atlantic Ocean. It is considered to be a barrier island which helps to shield Boston and the southern parts of Massachusetts from the storms of the North Atlantic. Pine Hill is the highest elevation, at 306 feet, on the island, and Cape Cod Bay on the leeward side has some great beaches and places to visit. Tourists to this area will find activities that run the gamut from extremely relaxing and stress free to the more adventurous and exciting.
Some activities and great places to see in Cape Cod include the following:
• People who love the sea will have a great time in this wonderful place and can go deep sea fishing, sailing, or even get a boat and go whale watching in order to have a wonderfully adventurous day.
• The National Seashore is one of the most beautiful places for hiking, taking a lovely stroll along the beach or having a picnic.
• Visitors will enjoy seeing and touring the numerous working lighthouses, such as the one at Race Point, Sandy Neck, or the Three Sisters, in addition to the Chatham, Nobska, Highland light houses, or many others.
• Enjoy dining in one of the many restaurants famous for their oysters, clams, and lobsters.
