Sao Paolo, which is Portuguese for the name “Saint Paul”, is also the most populated of all the cities in Brazil, the richest. After all, the city of Sao Paolo has been recognized as the hub of commerce and finance in the country. Most of the early settlers of this city were from Portugal. Today the country is mix of religions and nationalities with Japanese being the dominant ones.
Alongside the city of Rio de Janeiro, the city of Sao Paolo has also become a center for arts, entertainment and fashion. Each year, the city plays hosts to the Sao Paolo Fashion Week, which has now been considered as one of the most anticipated and followed fashion events in the world. Sao Paolo provides travelers visiting the country of Brazil with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and rich cultural heritage while maintaining that corporate feel, particularly in its commerce and financial districts.
Travelers visiting Sao Paolo are greeted with things to do and so many sights to see. There are a number of different events and festivals that are held throughout the year. One of the unique events being held in the city is the “March for Jesus” parade which is held each year on the Feast of Corpus Christi. Organized by the Rebirth Church, this Evangelical parade is attended by more than one million people each year and is highlighted by the numerous Christian bands from all over the world parading through the streets on flatbed trucks as they perform.
