The Basel region is situated on the northern part of the country of Switzerland and bordered by the Rhine River, which has been recognized as a major artery flowing through the region. In the olden times, the Rhine River served as an important avenue for trade and commerce. Today, Basel has been known as the gateway for many travelers to Europe. This is because most of the major European tours begin here in this region.
