The RCMP, or Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Heritage Centre is located on Dewdney Avenue in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 5pm during the winter and a few hours longer during the summer. Admission for adults is $12; students and seniors can get in for $10 and an even deeper discount applies to RCMP employees and veterans.
The RCMP Heritage Centre is located at the cadet academy or Depot Division. While the Mounties have been in action for 135 years, the centre only opened in 2007. The main exhibits include: the creation of the mounted police in 1873, the presence of the Mounties in Canada's Wild West, arctic patrolling, the current challenges faced by Mounties in modern Canada, the global presence of the RCMP, modern policing techniques, and a half hour multi-media presentation about the RCMP as a whole.
You can also visit their temporary exhibition hall that houses traveling presentations such as Canada's role in UN peacekeeping forces. The centre offers many themed school presentations for classes K-12. They range from counterfeiting, to a historical reinterpretation of the conflict with the First Nations in the Northwestern Territory. These tours have a group educational rate and must be pre-booked.
The Heritage Centre is also available to rent. You can rent the entire space, the 124 seat theatre, an exhibit gallery, or a meeting room. There is also a gift shop with many RCMP and Canadian themed items.
