Gaiole is probably the most idyllic town of the five, known for its beautiful landscapes dotted with numerous picturesque castles and parish churches. Because of its position at the lower part of the valley, it has never been a strategic place like Radda or Castellina, however, filled with charm and character, Gaiole is definitively worth a stop to visit.

If you want to spend more time in this area, you can opt to follow one of the established “castles routes” radiating out from Gaiole.

Tuscany offers not only stunning landscapes and excellent wines. Its interesting history with lovely medieval hill towns, such as San Gimignano and Volterra, shaped the region and its culture as well.
