Origins

The palace was rebuilt in its present form in the 1760s for the Ferrari family, on a site directly over the river gorge.

Turning points

It later passed to the Sturm family, whose name it kept, and eventually to the municipality.

Influential people

The Remondini printing house, whose collection is here, made Bassano one of Europe's great producers of popular prints in the eighteenth century -- cheap religious images, playing cards and decorated papers exported across the continent.

Cultural evolution

Bassano maiolica has been produced locally since the sixteenth century, and the civic collection traces it from then to the present.

Present-day significance

The palace now houses both museums and is part of the town's civic museum network.

Publishing will make these pending changes visible on the live page.
