Villa dei Cedri Historical Timeline
Last updated on September 7, 2026Origins
The villa was built in the nineteenth century for a landowning family, in the period when the hillsides were being consolidated into commercial vineyards.
Turning points
Its cedars, planted with the house, are what gave it the name and are now the oldest and largest trees in the town.
Influential people
The landowning class it represents is largely gone from this district: the DOCG today is a landscape of smallholders, many with under a hectare.
Cultural evolution
The property passed to the municipality and the grounds became a public park, with the villa used for exhibitions, tastings and civic events.
Present-day significance
It now hosts the town's wine showcases, including events during the spring Mostra, which is when the interior is most likely to be open.
