One of the most popular destinations for locals and tourists in the city of San Diego, California is Sea World in San Diego. While there are a number of Sea World parks that are now scattered across the United States, Sea World San Diego is the first one to be constructed and opened to the public. Located along the shore of Mission Bay in San Diego, Sea World was founded in 1964 by four graduates from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Today, Sea World, San Diego is owned and operated by Busch Entertainment Corporation. Each year, Sea World San Diego plays host to more than 400,000 visitors. Apart from the diverse marine life visitors are able to view the many large aquariums in the park. One of the top attractions in Sea World is Dolphin Cove, which contains one of the largest dolphin pools in the world and is designed to reflect the natural ecosystem where dolphins are able to thrive in. Yet another show is the Shamu Show which highlights the performances of the Shamu whales. Another top attraction in the park is the Journey to Atlantis. Visitors are taken through a tour down into a man-made lake and into towers where they are able to view a depiction of the lost city of Atlantis with speakers providing you the story behind the city.
