Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: flip this switch on and Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- turn it off again any time, or reveal the real photo for just one place at a time from its own page.

Venice Events

Changed

Venice's calendar is marked by a small number of long-running traditions rather than a continuous stream of festivals -- most trace back centuries and recur on roughly the same date or season every year. They range from water-based traditions tied to the city's maritime history, to major international arts events, to religious and civic observances that are older than the events themselves.

The events listed below are the city's most established recurring dates, each with its own typical timing, admission situation, and, where enough visitors have weighed in, a traveler rating. A few of them, Carnevale and Festa del Redentore especially, draw large crowds and are worth planning travel dates around, whether to join in or to deliberately visit at a quieter time of year instead.
